Professional make-up artist and the inspiration behind Purple Dot

Having made the decision to follow her dream to become a make-up artist Sophie enrolled at Greasepaint Make-up School in London and completed a course in make-up, hair and special effects in December 1997.

The bright lights of Film and theatre

Since then she has worked in a variety of areas ranging from Theatre, Fashion, Bridal, TV and Film with credits that include Tomb Raider, 007 Die Another Day, Troy and Outlaw, she has also had the opportunity to work with some amazing people including designer Alexandra McQueen at London Fashion Week.

In 2004 along with the help of her partner James, Sophie designed and created a range of professional make-up brushes and bags for make-up artists and beauty junkies everywhere. She then launched Purple Dot products Ltd in January 2005 at the Make-up Artist trade show.

Sophie’s year of experience as a make-up artist working in television and film has given her the knowledge of the essential requirements for creating the perfect make-up brush and bag, using this knowledge and 2 years of research on the manufacturing process she has created a unique range of brushes of an exceptional standard.

"I designed the brushes to improve and complement the way in which we apply make-up. I took the best bits of all my favourite brushes and put them together to create a range I am very proud of."

Sophie is still very much involved within the make-up industry which is key to the progression of the company. New designs and ideas come from working in the field and finding out what the professionals require from their tools.

Bridal make-up service

For the last 7 years she has also enjoyed offering brides a full make-up and hair service and has recently joined facetime.co.uk bridal service.

This make-up experience has enabled her to become one of the contributing experts for Your Kent Wedding Magazine offering advice and tips to brides on make-up and beauty for their special day. She has also been contacted by magazines such as New, Closer and Black Hair and Beauty for tips and advice on make-up application.
