I have always held a firm belief that the secret to creating flawless make-up is in a fantastic, durable and quality set of make-up brushes. So the inspiration behind me creating a range of professional level make-up brushes and bags was born. Purple Dot had arrived.
In some way, being creative has always been in my blood; from drawing horses in my room with my childhood friend Amie Goodman - who incidentally turned out to be an amazing artist - to driving my art teacher mad with my 4ft high sculpture creations!
The right outlet for my creative side came when I decided to follow a repressed dream to become a make-up artist. I enrolled at Greasepaint Make-up School in London and completed a course in make-up, hair and special effects in December 1997. the rest as they always say is history.
Since then I have been lucky enough to work in theatre, fashion, bridal, TV and film acquiring credits on Tomb Raider, James Bond: Die Another Day, Troy, Outlaw, The Descent 2 and most recently Eden Lake and Skins 3.
I've grasped the opportunity to work with some amazing people including designer, Alexandra McQueen at London Fashion Week and, more importantly, hundreds of brides on their special day.
Purple Dot Products Ltd launched in January 2005 at The Make-up Artist Trade Show in London.
The idea came after I made a make-up pouch and brush roll for myself as I couldn't find anything that worked the way I needed it and people started asking me where I got it and could they have one? So I bought a second hand sewing machine and started to sew! And the first Purple Dot bag was created.
I put to use my years of experience working as a make-up artist and my knowledge of the essential requirements needed to create the perfect make-up brush and bag. Combined with this knowledge and 2 years of research on the manufacturing process as I just couldn't sew fast enough, I created a unique range of brushes and bags of an exceptional standard.
I am still very much involved within the make-up industry whether it be in TV, film or offering tips and advice to brides to be. Alongside my TV and film career I have offered a bridal make-up and hair service, this experience has enabled me to become one of the contributing experts for Your Kent Wedding Magazine offering advice and tips to brides on make-up and beauty for their special day. I have also been contacted by magazines such as New, Closer and Black Hair and Beauty for tips and advice on make-up application.
